ST 1 Acupuncture Point(Chengqi) belongs to the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming,which is commonly used for swelling and pain of eye, epiphora with wind, night blindness, color blindness, myopia, hyperopia, facial paralysis, acute and chronic conjunctivitis, cataracts, glaucoma, strabismus, optic nerve atrophy, etc.

What is the meaning of Chengqi
Chengqi:”Cheng”,container,”Qi”,tear. The name of “Chengqi” means that the Qi of Stomach Meridian come out of this acupoint. The movement of Qi of the body surface meridian of Stomach Meridian is flowing down from head to foot. The substance of this acupoint is the ascending Qi of the body of Stomach meridian.However,It will turns into water due to cool down after going out of the meridian from the body to surface.This point is located in the highest position,and the water of meridian is in an unstable state, such as tears dripping down, hence the name.
ST 1 Acupuncture Point Usage
- Swelling and pain of eye, epiphora with wind, eyelid tremulous, facial paralysis.
- Myopia, night blindness, tremor, blepharospasm, keratitis, optic atrophy, eye fatigue,presbyopia, cataracts and other eye diseases.
Clinical:Conjunctivitis, myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism. Glaucoma, strabismus, cataract, optic atrophy, facial nerve palsy, hemifacial spasm, etc.
ST 1 Acupuncture Point Therapy
- Close your eyes and get rid of all distracting thoughts, gently press temples on both sides in clockwise for 10 times, counterclockwise for 10 times; then gently massage ST 1(Chengqi) point,which can relieve swelling and pain of eye and relieve eye fatigue and prevent myopia;
- Scraping ST 1(Chengqi) point with 45 degrees from inside to outside, which can relieve blepharospasm.

Combined with Jingming, Cuanzhu, and Guangming point to relieve eye pain.
Combined with Fengchi,Jingming point to treat swelling and pain of eye.
Combined with Zusanli, Hegu, Chuanzhu, and Fengchi point to treat facial paralysis.
