What is the meaning of Chimai
Chimai,”Chi”,madness, refers to the rapid movement of Qi in the point.Mai,the Qi of Meridian. The name of “Chimai” means that the descending Qi of San Jiao Meridian due to cold contraction rapidly expands here. The substance of this acupoint is the water-qi from SJ 19(Luxi) point and the hot Yang-qi from SJ 17(Yifeng) point. After both meet, the dampness-qi due to absorbing heat and rapidly expands and rushes out of the point,the Qi like a dog running wildly, hence the name.
