What is the meaning of Xiabai
Xiabai:Xia,refers to the functional of acupuncture points. Bai,white, the color of lungs, refers to the characteristics of Qi after changing of this point. The name “Xiabai” means that the Qi of the lung meridian is distinguished. The substance of this point is the rain-like cloud-qi from LU 3 point(Tianfu). Since the Qi is far away from the high temperature area of the chest and abdomen of the body, the change of water,cloud-qi at this point is a process of heat dissipation and condensation . Due to cooling and condensation, the Qi at the location of the acupuncture point fall from the heaven to the ground, also from the cortex to the muscle layer. The name of “Xiabai”means that the water,cloud-qi from the heaven drop into the ground,and dark cloud-qi will be become white water-qi.Hence the name.
