Ligou acupoint(LR 5) belongs to the liver meridian of foot-jueyin. It is a Luo-connecting point,which is commonly used for irregular menstruation, endometritis, functional uterine bleeding, urinary obstruction, and hernia.
Location of LiGou point
5 cun above the tip of the medial malleolus on the midline of the surface of the tibia.
What is LiGou point Used For?
Urogenital system diseases: hypersexuality, irregular menstruation, endometritis, uterine bleeding, urinary obstruction, hernia.
Other diseases: myelitis, tachycardia, acute and chronic injuries of the lower back and knee joints.

Ligou Point Therapy
Massage therapy
Taking sitting or supine posture, presses on the Ligou acupoints on both sides with the abdomen of the thumbs.Presses and rubs it to produces a sense of soreness, swelling, and pain,then flexion and extension of the ankle. Strengthen acupressure again, and then relax with kneading. Knead for 5-10 minutes each time. Acute phase: 2 to 3 times a day. Chronic phase: once a day or every other day.
Acupuncture therapy
1. Puncture 0.3-0.5 cun along the skin.
2. Flat puncture 0.5-0.8 cun until feel local soreness.
3. Obliquely puncture 1.0-1.5 cun upwards along the posterior edge of the tibia until feel soreness.
Moxibustion therapy
Moxa stick moxibustion for 3-5 unit; moxa stick moxibustion for 5-10 minutes.
Hanging Moxibustion
Lie on your back to fully expose the acupoints. Placed burning Moxa sticks about 3cm above the acupuncture point to make the local warm without burning pain. Generally, moxibustion until local redness about 10 to 15 minutes each time,1 to 2 times a day.
