GB 13 Acupuncture Point(Benshen) belongs to the Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang,which is commonly used to treat vascular (neurological) headaches, cerebrovascular diseases, neurasthenia, cerebral dysgenesis of children, etc.puncture 0.5 to 0.8 cun.

0.5 cun within the hairline of the forehead, 3 cun lateral to DU 24 (junction of medial 2/3 and lateral 1/3 distance from DU 24 to ST 8).

What is the meaning of Benshen

Benshen:”Ben”,the foundation of human,refers the substance of this point is the Qi of the heaven. “Shen”,god,the wind in the heaven,refers to the movement of Qi is the lateral movement wind-qi. The name of “Benshen” means that the condensed water of the heaven of the head converges here, and then travels through the Gallbladder Meridian. This point is located at the upper part outside of the head corner,it is at the highest position. Since no the Qi of the Gallbladder Meridian is transmitted here, it is empty, so the outside condensed water of this point flows into this point. The Qi of this point is pure Qi of the heaven, and lateral transmission to GB 14(Yangbai) point, hence the name.

GB 13 Acupuncture Point Usage

1. Headache, dizziness;

2. Epilepsy, convulsion, stroke;

3. Insomnia.

Clinical:vascular (neurological) headaches, cerebrovascular diseases, neurasthenia, cerebral dysgenesis of children.

GB 13 Acupuncture Point Therapy

Use the tip of your thumb’s knuckles to press GB 13 vertically and firmly, until feel obvious soreness. After a few seconds, relaxes it . Then use palm to gently rubbing it front and back, until feel local heat. Repeat it, alternating left and right. Press GB 13 for 5 to 10 minutes each time, once or twice a day,which can relieve headache dizziness;

GB 13 Acupoint Compatibility

Combined with Shuigou, Temple, Baihui, Dazhui, Hegu, and Tianzhu point to treat stroke and convulsions;

Combined with Tianzhu, Fontanhui point and Qianding point to treat epilepsy.

Combined with Shenting and Yintang for insomnia;

Combined with Luxi and Neiguan point to treat chest and hypochondriac pain.

  1. There is a mistake in the picture. It should be ST8 not ST25
    ST25 is located 2 cun on either side of the umbilicus.
    Aside from that, I find the information very useful and well written.
