GB 38 Acupuncture Point(YangFu) belongs to the Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang, which is commonly used for migraine, pain of the outer canthus, axillary pain, scrofula, chest hypochondriac and lateral pain of lower limbs, malaria, and hemiplegia.

4 cun above the tip of the external malleolus, slightly anterior to the anterior border of the fibula between extensor digitorum longus and peroneous brevis.

What is the meaning of Yangfu

Yangfu:”Yang” refers to Yang-qi,”Fu” means auxiliary. The name of “YangFu” means that the dampness-qi of Gallbladder Meridian absorbs heat and ascends here. The substance of this point is the cold dampness-qi from GB 39(Xuanzhong) point. After reaching this point, It will go upward  due to absorbing heat.This point like auxiliary the Qi of Gallbladder Meridian go upward, hence the name.

GB 38 Acupuncture Point Therapy

  • Scrape GB 38(Yangfu) acupoint with scraping board from top to bottom for 1-2 times a day,which can strengthen leg muscles, dredge  meridians, and prevent from lower extremity joint diseases, headaches, eye pain and other symptoms if long-term massage it;
  • Use the thumb of hand to press GB 38(Yangfu) point up and down for 1 to 2 minutes,interval five minutes. Total 10 minutes a time,which can reduce migraines if long-term massage it;

Combined with Fengchi and temple to treats migraine.

Combined with Zulinqi and Qiuxu point to treat underarm swelling;
