What Acupressure Points Can Relieve Back Pain?

Acupressure is the medical procedure of applying pressure on certain spots to get rid of the pain. It is similar to Acupuncture except it doesn’t require any sterile needles and is much easier to do. You can do it yourself at home and get rid of your body aches through it. However, it is essential to know the right Acupressure points that can help with pain relief, especially for your back. Here are some of the points where you can apply this technique to get rid of back pain.

  • Lower Middle Back

These acupressure points are located on both sides of the lower back. It is between the rib cage and hip bone. You can easily locate the B23 spot where the inner bladder line joins the middle of the waist. This is the place where you want to apply gentle but firm pressure. Place your hands and move the thumbs towards the located points to apply pressure until you can hold your pain while taking deep breaths. Apply pressure for at least a minute and then repeat. In this way, you can get lasting relief from lower back pain. 

  • Finger And Thumb 

LI4 point is a point at the web between the thumb and the index finger. It is 2 finger widths from the meeting point of the thumb and index finger. You’ll notice that there is a bump in a muscle and the highest point of this bump where this point is located. You can easily access the point with your other hand. Apply it for 5 to 10 seconds and then take a gap before switching it to your other hand. Repeat this acupressure exercise 2 to 3 times a day for your pain. 

  • Knee Crease 

Another acupressure point to get relief from back pain is located at the center of the crease near the back of your knee. This B40 helps with the relief of your pain along the spine. This acupressure point is also helpful in relieving stiffness, control muscle spasms, and leg pain. Applying pressure on this point every day for 10 to 20 minutes will treat your back pain.  

  • Below The Belly Button

To locate this acupressure point, use your fingers and place it beneath your navel. You will notice a firm region and that is the point where you need to apply pressure. The CV6 strengthens the muscles of the waist and hip. It will help you in dealing with your pain. Gently apply the pressure with your index or middle finger for 1 to 3 minutes with small gaps to get rid of the pain. 

  • Hip Bone Acupressure Point 

The hip bone points B48 are on both sides away from the bony area to the hip bone and the base of the buttocks. The GB30 is another point located near the tender region right above the crease to the hip. This is a great point that can help with back pain and reduce stiffness in muscles. You can apply pressure on both of these points to relieve the pain. 

  • Foot Acupressure Point

The foot acupressure point is between the big toe and the second toe where they both meet. This point can treat your back pain and limb pain as well. Do not apply strong pressure on LV3. Apply gentle pressure for 20 seconds and release. Do it on both the legs 2 to 4 times a day with your thumb or index finger to ease your pain. You can repeat the procedure for one to two weeks to get rid of all your back pain.

  • Top Of The Shoulder

The GB21 is two fingers away from the base of the neck at the top of your shoulder. It can help you deal with back pain by releasing your stress and tension. You should apply pressure on this point with great care. Rub your hand and find the tight spot where the tension lies and apply gentle pressure or massage it for 5 to 6 seconds.

  • Below Collar Bone

K27 is located below the collar bone. This point treats the upper back pain and helps you in relaxing. It is an essential way to treat your back pain. Use the opposite hand to apply firm pressure for a minute. Take slow breaths while applying pressure on this point for relieving your back pain. You should apply the pressure on this point 2 to 3 times a day for a week. 

Veins in our entire body are connected and this results in great acupressure points that can help in relaxing muscles and relieving pain. If you want to get rid of any back pain, these acupressure points will be the right way to go. Simple massage or gentle pressure can help you get rid of all your pain.
